Lieutenant George Pomeroy Colley (later General Sir George
Pomeroy Colley) drew up the plans for Panmure in 1857, as a
settlement for the Anglo-German Legion. The street names have
been added to indicate how Colley's map equates with the Central
Business District of East London today.
